#HereAndNow: Tung Wan beach
The Tung Wan Beach at Ma Wan was a place I visited frequently during the COVID-19 pandemic. During weekdays, I would go to the beach and sit in the sand, accompanied by my e-reader and an iced coffee in hand, listening to the sound of the waves. Even though the beach was near my home, going there by myself was a big step for me as someone struggling with social anxiety.
Every time I visited the beach, it felt like a small step forward. It was usually nice and quiet, so I could take my time to read, watch the sunset, and take my mind off all the worries and thoughts I was struggling with.
Whenever I pass by the beach, I still get reminded of these somewhat difficult times, but I also get overwhelmed by the feeling of tranquility and accomplishment. The Tung Wan Beach provided me a peaceful refuge during the COVID-19 pandemic, and revisiting it still evokes a bittersweet mix of emotions.
